MTD President Mike Danforth—already employed in the marketing business back then—had an idea: Why not put his own experience as a professional musician, raised in school music programs, together with his know-how in the marketing industry?
The result? MTD Marketing, Inc. — a company specializing in marketing to the school performing arts community in the United States.
Mike and his wife, Lisa, launched MTD in the living room of their tiny apartment in Chicago. Today, MTD is based in Colorado Springs and has several full-time employees, plus an in-house battalion of researchers employed throughout the school year.
